Assessors’ Primary Function
The Assessors’ Office is responsible for administering Massachusetts Property Tax Laws effectively and equitably and for producing accurate and fair assessments of all property, both real estate and business personal property. The office also administers all real estate tax exemptions and abatements and excise tax abatements.
Temporary Change in Office Hours - Effective Thursday, July 27, 2017
Until further notice, the Board of Assessors will be open Monday through Thursday from 8am to 4pm and closed on Friday, due to a temporary reduction in staff.

Property Values for Fiscal Year 2017:
Fiscal 2017 is a revaluation year for the Town of Halifax. The Department of Revenue has given the Board of Assessors preliminary approval of the Fiscal 2017 property values, which are based on the 2015 sales.
Valuations will be available to the public the week of August 17 through August 23, 2016 at the Town Hall, Holmes Public Library and on the Town's website. The Assessors' Office will provide a list of this year's values versus last year's for comparative purposes.
The Assessors' Office will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The Library will be open their normal business hours.
