Town of Halifax - Calendar of Events - June 12 - July 13
Soul Creations is sponsoring a Family Fun Day fundraiser for the Halifax in Lights and the fireworks display at the Halifax Town Hall on June 13 from 10am to 2pm. Everyone is welcome to participate in the creation of collages using pre-cut pictures, blank greeting cards, etc.. Pot Luck Finger Desserts and More. Child care available. Chair Massages for adults $1/min. Bring dessert for extra raffle ticket. Suggested Family donation $40. The Pilgrim Festival Chorus presents "Songs of War, Songs of Peace" on Saturday, June 13 from 7:30pm to 9:00pm at the First Trinitarian Church, 381 County Way, Scituate, MA 02066. This performance is supported, in part, by the Halifax Cultural Council.

Halifax Youth Baseball will hold its Field Day from 10am to 2pm at the fields behind the Halifax Elementary School. T-Ball & Farm League teams will play games, and have skills and baseball contests. They will also receive their season trophies. The JUNIOR League Championship game will also be played. T-ball starts at 10 am - Farm League starts at 11 am - Jr. League Championship game starts at 12:30 pm. Parent Volunteers are Needed! The Pilgrim Festival Chorus presents "Songs of War, Songs of Peace" on Sunday, June 14 from 7:30pm to 9:00pm at the Central Congregational Church in Middleboro, 2 Webster Street, Middleborough, MA 02346. This performance is supported, in part, by the Halifax Cultural Council.

The Norwell Visiting Nurses Association, in conjunction with the Halifax Board of Health, will present an information session at the Holmes Public Library on awareness and prevention of tick-borne diseases on Monday, June 15 at 6:30pm.

The Norwell Visiting Nurses Association will provide a free, walk-in, adult blood pressure and blood sugar screening clinic on Wednesday, June 17 at the Our Lady of the Lake Church from 10:00am to 11:00am. They will also answer questions about medications. Please call the Board of Health at 781-293-6768 for more information.

Writers group for adults, sponsored by the Holmes Public Library on Thursday, June 18 at 3pm and facilitated by participants. Work on your writing skills or simply get ideas. Come to the meeting and find out what other local writers are doing. All skill levels and styles are welcome.

Our Lady of the Lake Church will hold a parish yard sale on Saturday, June 20 from 9am to 2pm. The Church is gladly accepting donated items which can be left at the parish hall. Please no large furniture or VHS tapes. All monies raised from the event are used to support the Church's activities in Halifax.

The Halifax Boy Scouts will hold their annual yard sale on Saturday, June 20 from 9am to 2pm on the Town Hal Green, rain or shine.

The Holmes Public Library will host a local authors night on Monday, June 22 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. Eugene Coghill of Halifax will read from his first novel, Love Is a Fishnet, which he wrote about a journey of the heart. Brett Crehan of West Bridgewater will read from his newly released Ji Eun’s Gift: A Novel of Southeastern Massachusetts.  Rosalind Cuschera of Quincy will read from Journey from San Rocco, a nonfiction book based on her family history. Members of the library's Halifax Writes Writers Group will also share excerpts from their works in progress. We hope you will come to be in the audience and support our local literati — already-published and soon-to-be-published! Authors will have books available for purchase, but no purchase is necessary to attend! Light refreshments served.

Summer reading fun kicks off at the Holmes Public Library on Friday, June 26, at 11:30 am with an all-ages family show, MAGICpalooza with Lon Cerel. Come have some cake and enjoy the fun! Sign up for summer programs and pick up your reading bag with a complete calendar of events & activities! If you can't make the kick-off, you can sign up for summer programs any time after that!

The Halifax Highway Department at 60 Hemlock Lane will accept brush at this location from 8am to noon on Saturday, June 27 from Halifax residents. No bags/piles of leaves or grass clippings. No large trees.

The 2015 edition of Halifax in Lights will be on Saturday, June 27 with family activities at the Halifax Town Hall from 4pm to 7pm, music and additional activities from 7pm to 9pm at the Elementary School, and fireworks at 9:15pm. Volunteers are needed to assist in planning for the day's activities and for working during the day of the event. Vendors can contact the committee via Facebook to host a table.

Monday Night Madness begins Monday, June 29 at 6:30 pm at the Holmes Public Library with Marvelous Marvin’s show “The Magic of Science”. A professional performer since 1984, Marvelous Marvin incorporates dance, theater, magic, and circus arts with his love of research and science. This show is best for ages 5 & up. Reservations are not required, but seating is limited in the Community Room.

Most Town buildings and services are closed on Independence Day, July 4.

Monday Night Madness at the Holmes Public Library on Monday, July 6 at 6:30pm will include stories, songs, puppets, and lots of laughs with Big Ryan.

The Halifax Recycling Center will hold its monthly hazardous waste collection day on Saturday, July 11 from 7:30am to 12:30pm at the Recycling Center, 917 Plymouth Street. All household hazardous waste must be in the original labeled sealed container; container cannot be leaking or rusted. No Exceptions.

Sciencetellers combine science and story in the Monday Night Madness show, Superheroes on Monday, July 13 at 6:30pm at the Holmes Public Library. This show is not suitable for very young children, so please bring only children aged 5 and up, for everyone to get the most enjoyment.
