Town of Halifax - Calendar of Events - July 21 - August 21
The Monponsett Watershed Association will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, July 23 at 7pm in the Great Hall of the Halifax Town Hall. No membership necessary! ($15 per yr. if interested to vote!) These are critical times for our waters! All opinions are welcome!

There will be a regular meeting of Generations at the Halifax Council on Aging on Friday, July 24 starting at 11:30am with a hot dog/hamburger lunch, the meeting at 12 noon, and dessert at 12:30pm. All welcome! $5 pre-paid, please let Dottie know by Monday, July 20 if you plan to attend.

The Halifax Highway Department at 60 Hemlock Lane will accept brush at this location from 8am to noon on Saturday, July 25 from Halifax residents. No bags/piles of leaves or grass clippings. No large trees.

An annual tradition for Monday Night Madness! Register in advance to show off your pet to the crowd at the Holmes Public Library on Monday, July 27! This event is held outdoors. Please note the earlier start time (6:00 pm)

On Stage, a summer theatre program for area youth, will present its final production on Thursday, July 30, at 10:30AM and 7:00PM at the Halifax Elementary School, Route 106, Halifax. Admission is free, open to the public, and appropriate for children and adults of all ages. In its 31th year, On Stage is directed by Halifax resident Robert Kniffen. The program runs each year during the first four weeks of July, is open to students entering grades 4-8, and is sponsored by the Halifax Youth and Recreation Commission.

It's time for the Holmes Public Library's Teddy Bear Tea on Friday, July 31 at 11:30am! Bring your favorite teddy bear or stuffed animal and join us for stories, songs, and snacks! Dressing up is optional, but fun.

The Halifax Recycling Center will hold its monthly hazardous waste collection day on Saturday, August 1 from 7:30am to 12:30pm at the Recycling Center, 917 Plymouth Street. All household hazardous waste must be in the original labeled sealed container; container cannot be leaking or rusted. No Exceptions.

The Boston Museum of Science generously presents its "Animal Invaders" show to the Holmes Public Library community on Monday, August 3 at 6:30pm. Best for families with older children, ages 6 and up.

The Halifax Genealogy Club will meet at the Holmes Public Library on Wednesday, August 5 from 1pm to 2pm. This is a  cooperative group for beginning, intermediate and advanced family historians. This month's topic will be the Plymouth County Genealogists, Inc. Shirley Shindler, the group's secretary, giving a brief overview of the benefits of membership and the group's collection of genealogical materials stored in the East Bridgewater Public Library's Historical Room. Please feel free to bring up additional topics for discussion with the group, as well!

Annual summertime puppet show presented by the Holmes Public Library's teen puppet troupe, Company H will be held on Thursday, August 6 at 11am in the Great Hall of the Halifax Town Hall. The puppet troupe was funded and supported by the Sandra LaCivita Children's Arts Fund.

TRIAD will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, July 14 at 10am with guest speakers Kimberly King and Harry Town presenting important information on wood ticks and the potential problems that can occur if we don't avoid the pests with vigilance.

The Holmes Public Library will hold a Touch a Truck event with police, fire, highway department trucks and a First Student school bus on Wednesday, August 12 from 6pm to 7pm at the Library. Free, fun, family event. Don't forget to bring a camera! Rain date August 19.

Kickoff the 2015 Football Season with the 2nd Annual Gridiron Kickoff 5K on Saturday, August 15.  The race begins at 9:00 am with a start and finish line of Silver Lake Regional High School, 260 Pembroke Street, Kingston, MA.

The 4th Annual Silver Lake Hockey Booster/Silver Lake Alumni Golf Tournament will be held at Indian Pond Country Club on Monday, August 17th with a 1pm Shotgun Start and 12 pm Check in. Cost is $150.00 per golfer includes cart & dinner. $600 foursome. All money must be received by July 1st. Dinner only $40.00. Raffles prizes and silent auction items - and above all a great time! The Halifax Council on Aging hosts its annual cookout at noon on Wednesday, August 19 on the Town Hall Green. Reserve your spot by calling the Council on Aging (781-293-7313) by Tuesday, August 11. Everyone wear Hawaiian.
