Come One...Come ALL The Halifax Lions Club Is having its monthly pancake breakfast on Saturday August 22, 2015 from 8-11 am at the Bryantville Meeting House located on 32 School St. Pembroke (Route 27) cost of the breakfast is $5.00. You will receive pancakes, home fries, sausage, coffee or tea w/ juice. Come meet the members of the club and find out the good things the Lions do in the community while supporting a great cause as well hope to see you this Saturday.

Back by popular demand, the Senior Singers return to the Holmes Public Library for another performance on Tuesday, August 25 at 2pm.

All nomination papers for the vacant State Senate seat previous held by State Senator Tom Kennedy before his death must be submitted to the Town Clerk's Office no later than Tuesday, August 25 at 5pm.

The Halifax Highway Department at 60 Hemlock Lane will accept brush at this location from 8am to noon on Saturday, August 29 from Halifax residents. No bags/piles of leaves or grass clippings. No large trees.

The last day to register in order to be eligible to vote at this special town meeting is Monday, August 31. The Town Clerk's Office at the Halifax Town Hall, 499 Plymouth Street, will be open until 8pm to accommodate those who wish to register.

International Overdose Awareness Day will be observed on the front lawn of the Halifax Police Station on Monday, August 31 from 9am to 9pm with signs and purple flags asking people to remember whose who have been lost and those that are trying to prevent these tragedies. Residents and others can wear purple on this day, too.

Wednesday, September 2, 2015 is the first day of school for the 2015-2016 school year at Halifax Elementary School, Silver Lake Middle School and Silver Lake High School.

The Halifax Recycling Center will hold its monthly hazardous waste collection day on Saturday, September 5 from 7:30am to 12:30pm at the Recycling Center, 917 Plymouth Street. All household hazardous waste must be in the original labeled sealed container; container cannot be leaking or rusted. No Exceptions.

All schools are closed for Labor Day, Monday, September 7.

There will be a Special Town Meeting on Tuesday, September 8 at 7:30pm in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Halifax Elementary School. A copy of the warrant is available.

The Halifax Board of Health will host a series of presentations about on-going projects at Monponsett Pond and Stump Brook (the outlet from Monponsett Pond) on Thursday, September 10 starting at 6:30pm. The presentations will occur in the large meeting/conference room on the 2nd floor of Silver Lake High School, 200 Pembroke Street, Kingston, MA and topics will include the feasibility of placing automated controls on the Brockton dam on Stump Brook, an update from the Massachusetts Division of Ecological Restoration of data collection and analysis of Stump Brook and a draft of the results from EPA's Watershed Management Optimization Support Tool (WMOST) for the Monponsett Pond Watershed. Celebrate the library's 21st anniversary and the return of Saturday hours on Saturday, September 12, with a noontime concert by Ginamark, a popular local band from Kingston who entertain crowds with a mix of pop, rock, and country music from the 50s through today. Bring your own brown bag lunch, and the Friends of the Library will provide cold drinks and ice cream or Popsicles. The open-air performance will be moved inside to the Community Room in case of rain or threatening weather. Indoor seating will be limited. This anniversary concert is funded by the Halifax Cultural Council, a local agency funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

The last day to register to vote in the Special State Primary to fill the vacant State Senate seat previously occupied by State Senator Tom Kennedy is Wednesday, September 16. The Halifax Town Clerk's Office will be open from 8am to 8pm.

The Soule Homestead Harvest Fair and Joe Davies Folk Festival will take place on Saturday, September 19 from 10am to 5pm and on Sunday, September 20 from 11am to 5pm at the Soule Homestead, 46 Soule Street Middleborough MA 02346. This event is supported, in part, by the Halifax Cultural Council.

The Halifax Congregational Church will hold its annual Chicken BBQ and Harvest Fair on Saturday, September 19 from 10am to 3pm.

Salon Serenity at 590 Monponsett Street will holds its 10th annual breast cancer cut-a-thon. The event will feature wet cuts for $15, Bake Table, Raffles, Live Entertainment by Garrett Olson, Relish the Dog (hot dog stand) and more, please show your support and join us for a FABULOUS DAY!!!! All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society. More information.
