The Halifax PTO will meet on March 15 at 7pm in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Elementary School.

Join our 50+ Job Seekers Regional Networking Group, starts on March 16, 9am-11am at the Marshfield Council on Aging (230 Webster St The Halifax Council on Aging is co-hosting with Marshfield Council on Aging (230 Webster St). Halifax will meet the 1st Thursday of every month and Marshfield the third Thursday of each month from 9am-11am until June 2017. There will be a Job Fair sometime in June, so mark on your calendars. Participants are provided with a regularly scheduled, professional forum for networking with peers, facilitated by a professional certified Career Coach with years of experience, on topics relevant to career transition/job search, ample time to network and 1-1 coaching guidance. Please refer to the attached schedule for the first eleven sessions of topics. Friday, March 17, 2017 is an early release day (10:45am) for students at Silver Lake Regional Middle School and High School and an early release day (12:00 noon) for students at Halifax Elementary School. No lunch will be served.

The Halifax Congregational Church will be hosting a Chowder Luncheon on Friday March 17, from 11:30 to 1:00 pm.  The luncheons will consist of your choice of Clam, Corn or Seafood chowders, dessert and a beverage.  The donation per person is $7.50.  Take-out is also available. Please come and join us for a wonderful luncheon and fellowship!  All are welcome.

Our Lady of the Lake Church hosts a chowder supper on Friday, March 17 from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. They will have its usual delicious home made clam and corn chowder, home made mac and cheese, and a weekly special.  The meal will include: choice of entree, corn bread, dessert and beverage. The meal is only a $5.00 donation. Take out is available for $5.00.

The Halifax Youth and Recreation Commission will hold a dance for 5th and 6th grade students living in Silver Lake District (Halifax, Plympton, Kingston) and surrounding towns on Saturday, March 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 pm. Admission is $5. Doors will open at 6:30 pm. Music begins at 7pm. Halifax Elementary School Gym. Chaperones are local teachers and Recreation Staff and are CORIed! These Dances are well supervised. Children are not allowed out of the building unless a parent is picking them up. Drinks, gum, and outside Food are not allowed in the building. Parents will pick up children in gym lobby when dance is over. Halifax Youth and Recreation reserves the right not to allow children into the dance that may be there to cause problems. We all want to have a great time! Music, Games, and Prizes. Pizza ($2.00), Drinks, and Candy Bars $1.50. The Halifax Highway Department at 60 Hemlock Lane will accept brush at this location from 8am to noon on Saturday, March 25 from Halifax residents. No bags/piles of leaves or grass clippings. No large trees.

This is to announce the Halifax Democratic Committee will be holding its annual caucus for the State Convention this June. The Caucus will be held on Saturday Feb 25th at 12 pm, doors opening at 11:00 am, at Halifax Town Hall (499 Plymouth Street), 2nd Floor Great Hall. Refreshments will be served and press invited.

The Silver Lake Alumni Scholarship Fund will hold a meat raffle and spaghetti dinner at the Hill Top Club, 65 Pottle St, Kingston, MA 02364 on Saturday, March 25, 2017. The meat raffle is first from 4pm to 6pm with the dinner to follow until 8 pm. You can come to either or both, and it's open to the public, so invite your friends, or get a group of your old alumni friends together for a few hours. We need to sell the dinner tickets ($15 each) in advance to make sure we have enough for anyone coming for dinner. You can contact any of the scholarship board members, myself included, or pay through pay pal - Come for an early evening and hang with friends and alumni while supporting a good cause.

The Norwell Visiting Nurses Association will provide a free, walk-in, adult blood pressure and blood sugar screening clinic on Monday, March 27 at the Halifax Town Hall from 11:00am to noon. They will also answer questions about medications. Please call the Board of Health at 781-293-6768 for more information.

The Halifax Recycling Center will hold its monthly hazardous waste collection day on Saturday, April 1 from 7:30am to 12:30pm at the Recycling Center, 917 Plymouth Street. All household hazardous waste must be in the original labeled sealed container; container cannot be leaking or rusted. No Exceptions.

The Silver Lake Regional School District Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) will its monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 8 at 7pm at the Pilgrim Academy, 42 Industrial Park Road, Plymouth. There will be a special presentation on anxiety disorders as anxiety disorders effect 1 in 8 children. Learn more about anxiety in children and steps parents can take to help manage it.

It's that time of year again! Hazel the cow will once again make her presence felt (hopefully multiple times) on the Town Green during Plop for HOPS Playground 3rd annual cow bingo on Sunday, April 9 from noon to 3pm! The day will also feature jumpys, face painting, pony rides, a petting zoo, snow cones, and food... all while our beloved bovine gets down to "business". Squares on the grid are $10 or get 5 for $40...Tickets are on sale now at the Town Clerk's office. Get 'em quick cause like Hazel... they'll go fast!

All schools (Halifax Elementary, Silver Lake Middle School, Silver Lake High School) will be closed on Friday, April 14 for Good Friday.
