Why can't I pay my bill online?
Bills can be paid online only until midnight of the due date.
Once a bill is overdue it cannot be paid online.

How much is a Municipal Lien Certificate and how soon will I get it?
The charge for an MLC is $50.00 and must have a self addressed stamped envelope included with the request.  There is a 10 day window but MLCs are done in order of being received.

Why are the hours of the Treasurer's Office different from the Collector's Office?
The Treasurers staff consists of two part-time employees neither of whom work the hours of the Collector's Office.  The Treasurer does work until 4PM but is not always available.  Should you require assistance after 2:30 PM please call before 2:30 to make sure the Treasurer will be in her office.  The Treasurer must leave the building for business sometime in the afternoon on a daily basis.

What are Personal Property bills?
Personal Property bills are taxes assigned to a business.
Once a business no longer exists it is up to the owner to notify the Town Clerk's Office.

When is a motor vehicle exise bill sent to the Deputy Collector?
Once an excise bill is overdue a $5.00 demand is attached to and a notice is sent giving 2 weeks in which to pay it.  After the 2 weeks elapse the unpaid bills are sent to the Deputy Collector who adds additional fees.  At this point the Deputy Collector's office must be contacted for payment amounts due beyond the last received notice.
