Position: Administrative Assistant - Assessors' Office

Hours:  Monday-Thursday:  10am to 4pm (24 hours per week)

Grade and step: Grade 6

Range of pay: $17.46 - $21.15 per hour/ with benefits

Primary job responsibilities:

Prepare auto and boat excise commitments & warrants. Type fiscal year tax commitments and warrants, including, State & Plymouth County taxes etc.   Process auto and boat excise abatements and certificate listing for Accountant & Collector.
Prepare abutters lists.
Prepare bill schedules, office payroll and maintain office budget, including reviewing budget status reports from Accountant.
Sales reports - send sales verification requests pertinent to valid sales analysis.
Print sales recorded on the Registry of Deeds website and enter sales information into Assessors' data base.
Record all ZBA decisions to property records.

Other responsibilities include:

Turnovers
Answer telephone and assisting taxpayers at counter
Filing
Type meeting notices, agendas and minutes
Monitor office supplies
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel desired.  Municipal experience is a plus.

Water Department Superintendent

The Halifax Water Department is seeking applications for Superintendent of the Water Department.  The position is responsible for the treatment and distribution of water and must comply with the U.S. EPA Safe Drinking Water Act and Massachusetts DEP drinking water regulations.  The Superintendent is responsible for the management of the department including staff, budget, operations, state and federal reporting, and serves as liaison for the department to the Board of Water Commissioners and DEP.
The position requires independent thinking and judgment to resolve complex problems related to drinking water treatment and operations and to insure public safety.  Must be available to respond to emergencies at all times.  Must have excellent communication and organizational skills and work well with the public and business associates.
Massachusetts Drinking Water Supply Operatorís licenses Grade 2 Distribution and Grade 2 Treatment are required.  SCADA experience, and five to ten (5 to 10) years experience in water systems and management are preferred.
The applicant will show progressively responsible experience in water system management, public works construction, and public facility maintenance; knowledge of federal, state, and town laws and regulations related to public water supplies and systems and grants.
Pay rate: $63,510 to $72,385 per year with benefits.

The Town of Halifax is accepting applications for the position of ZBA secretary (Secretary 2) for the Regulatory Department. This is a part-time position, 14 hours per week (no benefits) plus at least one evening meeting per month. Job requirements: Secretarial and computer skills. Knowledge of Town Government helpful The secretary interacts with the public, applicants, and board members. Performs office duties during the day and organizes and takes minutes for the meetings of the Zoning Board of Appeals which has one regular evening each month. Starting Salary is $15.69/hr. This position is for Adults who supervise or assist weekly recreation camps (On Stage, winter and summer camps), Special Events (Egg Hunt, Holidays in Halifax, Halifax in Lights, and Dances). The Supervisor may be asked to fill in for Recreation Director when the need arises if Director cannot be at event.  This is a position with limited hours during the year. Certification in CPR and First Aid are recommended but not required. Must be able to drive a 15 passenger van. Pay is $19.53 per hour

This position is for adults and young adults (College age or older) who assist weekly recreation camps (On Stage, winter and summer camps), Special Events (Egg Hunt, Holidays in Halifax, Halifax in Lights, and Dances). Duties include supervising children in varies recreational activities. Instructors are also responsible for cleaning gym, lobby, and lobby bathrooms. Also instructors may be used in keeping fields and parks clean. Instructors are used when needed. Instructors are used as gym monitors. Wage rate is $10.93 per hour.

Duties include supervising children in varies recreational activities. Instructors are also responsible for cleaning gym, lobby, and lobby bathrooms. Also instructors may be used in keeping fields and parks clean. (Youth sports programs are responsible to keep fields clean.) Aide/ Helpers are used when needed. Aide/Helpers assist instructors as gym monitors. This position is seasonal. Wage rate is the MA minimum wage (as of 1/1/2016, that is $10.00/hr.
