Regulatory Secretary
The Town of Halifax Regulatory Department seeks qualified candidates for the position of secretary to perform clerical support duties under the direction of the Conservation Commission and day to day supervision by the Building Commissioner. The successful candidate will be responsible for 15.5 hours inclusive of two evening meetings per month. Duties to include taking meeting minutes, transcribe for approval, and general clerical tasks. Meetings are on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at 7 p.m. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs and possess administrative support skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are a must, as well as being detail oriented and flexible. Must be able to meet deadlines, and be able to handle routine secretarial duties, often without direct supervision. Contact person for the public and other Town Boards and Officials and will also provide occasional support for the other clerical staff. A High School diploma or equivalent, as well as at least 2 years of secretarial/clerical experience, preferably in a municipal setting are preferred. Familiarity with Conservation matters and Open Meeting Laws helpful. Pay rate is Grade 4 $16.65/hr to $20.67/hr as of July 1, 2019 - (depending on qualifications, years of experience and dependent on approvals from the Wage and Personnel Board). No benefits. Average work week is five hours including Finance Committee meetings on various Monday nights at 7pm (night schedule varies throughout the year). Duties to include taking meeting minutes, transcribe for approval, contact with Town officials and employees, and general clerical tasks. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and possess administrative support skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are a must, as well as being detail oriented and flexible. Cemetery Department
Part-time summer laborer
The Cemetery Department is accepting applications for a summer position, June thru August, 25 hours per week laborer.  Applicants will be working outdoors performing mowing, weed wacking and various other duties. Applicant must possess a valid MA drivers license and be 18 years of age or older.

A job description and application are available at the Highway Department, 60 Hemlock Lane from 7am-3pm Monday-Friday.  Rate of pay is $14.59.  Application deadline is 3pm June 14, 2019.

Instructor 2
This position is for Adults who supervise or assist weekly recreation camps (On Stage, winter and summer camps), Special Events (Egg Hunt, Holidays in Halifax, Halifax in Lights, and Dances). The Supervisor may be asked to fill in for Recreation Director when the need arises if Director cannot be at event.  This is a position with limited hours during the year. Certification in CPR and First Aid are recommended but not required. Must be able to drive a 15 passenger van. Pay is $19.53 per hour

Duties include supervising children in varies recreational activities. Instructors are also responsible for cleaning gym, lobby, and lobby bathrooms. Also instructors may be used in keeping fields and parks clean. Instructors are used when needed. Instructors are used as gym monitors. Wage rate is $10.93 per hour.

This position is for High school age boys and girls who assist weekly recreation camps (On Stage, winter and summer camps), Special Events (Egg Hunt, Holidays in Halifax, Halifax in Lights, and Dances). Duties include supervising children in varies recreational activities. Instructors are also responsible for cleaning gym, lobby, and lobby bathrooms. Also instructors may be used in keeping fields and parks clean. (Youth sports programs are responsible to keep fields clean.) Aide/ Helpers are used when needed. Aide/Helpers assist instructors as gym monitors. This position is seasonal. Wage rate is the MA minimum wage (as of 1/1/2016, that is $10.00/hr.
