With the beginning of the budget season in Halifax, the Board of Selectmen is searching for two residents who are not Town officials or employees to serve on the Capital Planning Committee. The Committee meets with department heads to review all requests for equipment and building and other improvements that have a useful life of at least five years and cost over twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) and to make recommendations to the Finance Committee as to which projects should be funded in the coming fiscal year. Given that the cost of some of these items are larger than the
entire budgets of various departments, this is an important part of the budget process. Residents interested in serving on the Committee should contact the Board of Selectmen's Office at 781-294-1316 or download a Talent Bank form - http://www.town.halifax.ma.us/Pages/HalifaxMA_Bcomm/Selectmen/vacancies from the Town's web site.
