During a ceremony on Thursday, February 6, 2014 honoring Halifax Fire Chief William C. Carrico, who is leaving Halifax to become the Fire Chief in Sandwich, Massachusetts, Doug Forbes of the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) presented the Full Certification document for the Town of Halifax, stating:
“I would like to commend Chief Carrico the members of the Halifax Emergency Planning Committee for their hard work and dedication. Thanks to their efforts Halifax is a much stronger and safer place in which to live and work. The State Emergency Response Commission has unanimously approved the Halifax Local Emergency Planning Committee application for Full Certification. I would like to personally thank Chief Carrico for completing his application for Full Certification in record time.”
While Chief Carrico is leaving, the work of the Halifax LEPC and the Halifax Emergency Planning Agency (HEMA) will continue with Police Chief Ted Broderick as director.
