As of November 5, the water tank rehabilitation contractor has completed all structural repairs to the water tank and abrasive blast cleaning, priming, and stripe coating of the interior of the tank. The contractor continues to work on abrasive blast cleaning and priming of the tank exterior. The water tank rehabilitation work is anticipated to continue through the month of November followed by site cleanup and demobilization of construction equipment.
As part of the water tower painting project, the Town's water system continues to use water from the Brockton water system during each evening. This is necessary to supply an adequate supply of water to residents and businesses and to maintain the water pressure in the system. Because of the higher amounts of chlorine used by the City and because the Halifax water system is geographically much closer to Brockton's water treatment plant than the Brockton water system, there is a higher level of chlorine in the water than what Halifax uses. The water is tested each day and the level of chlorine remains well under the maximums allowed by state regulations. The Water Department appreciates your patience while this project continues. The Water Department welcomes anyone with questions about the water tower repainting project or the water system
