MassDOT and the MBTA will host a series of public meetings beginning next month on the proposed restoration of passenger rail service between the South Coast and Boston. Designers are considering a new connection making use of the existing MBTA Stoughton Commuter Rail Line. The design for this route is currently 15 percent complete. In addition, MassDOT and the MBTA are also considering an alternative rail route between Boston and the South Coast that could potentially be designed and constructed more quickly than the Stoughton route. The meetings will be held to inform the
public on the status of the project, discuss next steps, and seek public comment.
The schedule for the hearings is included in the attached flyer.
