The Town of Halifax lists various Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Invitation for Bids (IFBs) on this section of the Town's web site along with any required publications in local newspapers and/or the Massachusetts Central Register or the Goods and Services Bulletin. Potential bidders are advised to check this site for any changes or addenda to the RFPs and IFBs.

In addition to listing RFPs and IFBs, this page also lists the sale of surplus property such as supplies and equipment or land or buildings for sale by the Town.

Owner's Project Manager for Renovation and Addition to Pope's Tavern, 503 Plymouth Street

Standard Designer Application Form for Municipalities and Public Agencies not within the DSB Jurisdiction

The Town of Halifax, Massachusetts, through the Town Administrator, invites qualified applicants to submit proposals to provide Project Management Services for the renovation and expansion of Pope's Tavern, 503 Plymouth Street, which houses the Halifax Council on Aging. The original two-story building (approximately 2,000 square feet) was constructed in the mid-1800s and will be remodeled and improvements made to bring it closer to the State building code. The addition (approximately 2,200 square feet) will include an elevator, new program rooms, and multi-purpose room and a kitchen. Pope's Tavern is located at 503 Plymouth Street at the corner of Plymouth Street and South Street. All applicants must submit in conformance with these Requests for Qualifications (RFQ) documents available in the Town Administrator’s Office at 499 Plymouth Street. This RFQ shall be governed by the designer selection law, M.G.L. c. 7, §§38A½-O. Site visit on Friday, July 21 at 10:00am. Proposal deadline on Wednesday, July 26 at 3pm to Town Administrator, Halifax Town Hall, 499 Plymouth Street, Halifax, MA 02338.

Gasoline and Diesel Fuel

The Town has concluded its bidding process for Premium Unleaded Gasoline and for Diesel Fuel for July 1, 2016-June 30, 2017 and for two possible additional one-year periods (July 1, 2017-June 30, 2018 and July 1, 2018-June 30, 2019). On April 11, 2017, the Board of Selectmen voted to continue the contract for the July 1, 2017-June 30, 2018 period.

The contracts were awarded to Noonan Bros.

The Town does not maintain a list of interested bidders for future contracts. Interested bidders can sign up for the Town's mailing list for Contracts and Bids at:

When the Town issues an IFB for gasoline and diesel fuel, all subscribers to the mailing list will be notified.

The Town maintains an 8,000 gallon tank for gasoline and a 6,000 tank for diesel fuel, both at 60 Hemlock Lane.

Heating Oil

The Town of Halifax participates in the annual bid by Plymouth County. Please contact the County for more information.

Electricity Generation

The Town's current electricity contract is with Nextera. The contract ends in December 2017.

Natural Gas

The Town's current natural gas supplier is Sprague Operating Resources. The contract ends on July 31, 2018. The price of $0.58 per therm.
