Water System Problems
On Tuesday, September 9 a licensed contractor and a licensed water inspector were working on Sherwood Drive (off of Highland Circle). The contractor had to pressurize and chlorinate a new water main due to State and Town regulations. During the process the contractor did not properly close the gate valve in Highland Circle. As a result, some chlorine was put out into the Town's water system, which has resulted in discolored water and some people are experiencing an odor of chlorine. As of 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 10, the Water Department has started flushing the main in the Highland Circle area. This has caused a disruption that is resulting in discolored water as far away as Cranberry Drive as of 1:30 pm. If you experience discolored water, attach a hose to your outside spigot and let it run to draw
the dirty water out of your house. The Water Department does have a product that removes rust stains from clothes if you have done light laundry. The Water Department is very sorry for the inconvenience and is working to clear up the issue as soon as possible. If you have any questions please call the office at 781-293-1733, 7:00 am-4:00 pm Monday through Thursday or from 7:00am-11:00am on Friday.
Beginning on May 27, 2014 water restrictions will go into place. Check the announcement from the Water Department for more details.
