Trash is collected once each week. For information is available on the trash collection page.
Recyclables are collected every other week. When collection day falls on a holiday, that day's collection and the remaining collections for the week will be delayed one day. You can find out when your street is scheduled for pickup:
Bins must be curbside by 7am.
In order to recycle at curbside, you must have a Town of Halifax recycling bin. The Town collects plastics #1-7, cans, bottles, and jars. These items can be mixed together in the bin. We also take all paper products: magazines, junk mail, phone books, food boxes and corrugated cardboard. (Cardboard cannot be larger than 20x20 inches). Bag or tie paper products and place them on top of the bin or next to the bin. Do not put paper products loose in the recycling bin.
If paper products are mixed in with the containers in the bin, the bin will not be emptied. Any cardboard larger than 20x20 inches that is put at the curb will not be picked up. Large cardboard pieces can be brought to the Recycling Center. The Halifax Mobile Home Estates has a separate schedule for the pick-up of recyclables.
