Selectmen's Meetings are generally on 2nd and 4th Tuesdays (but not always), beginning at 7:30pm in the Selectmen's Meeting Room of the Town Hall, 499 Plymouth Street.
Alcohol licenses
All license applications and other forms connected with alcohol licenses are now available on the Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission's web site. Please follow the instructions, fill out the forms, print them out and submit them to the Board of Selectmen. Please ensure that the forms are complete as applications which are incomplete are likely to be rejected.
Class II (Sales of used motor vehicles) licenses: Please download the following forms and follow the instructions. If you have any questions, please contact the Selectmen's Office.
Common Victualler permits are for restaurants and other establishments where food is served on the premises. Vendors which do not have seating on the premises do not obtain a common victualler permit from the Board of Selectmen. However, all vendors which sell food must obtain the necessary permits from the Board of Health. Download and complete the following for a common victualler license from the Board of Selectmen:
Live Entertainment: Please fill this application (Word document) out if you are using a amplified sound system (disk jockey or live band) at an outside event such as a family gathering/reunion, graduation party or marriage reception and return it to the Board of Selectmen at least two weeks before the event. If you have questions about the application, please contact the Selectmen's Office.
Unregistered Vehicles: Under most circumstances, if you wish to have more than one unregistered vehicle on your property, including vehicles without up-to-date license plates and/or inspection stickers, you need to apply using this application (pdf file).
Note: The U. S. Department of Interior has released its Scoping Report for the development of the Environmental Impact Statement for the fee-to-trust application for the initial reservation of the Mashpee Wampanoag Indian Tribe. It is a pdf file and quite large (126.5MB). It will take some time to download.

The Board of Selectmen may award a Donelson Scholarship in the spring of 2011 and will decide at a later date whether to allow for the amount in the trust to build. If the Board decides to issue a Scholarship, the deadline for applications for the scholarship in 2011 will be May 15, 2011. Any resident of Halifax, Massachusetts under the age of 25 years as of June 30, 2012, who is enrolled in a postsecondary institution and/or program accredited by accrediting agencies or state approval agencies recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and who is majoring in business or a related field is eligible to apply.
