In order to bring the Town's web site into the 21st century, the Halifax Board of Selectmen is looking for volunteers to serve on the Town's web site committee. The volunteers will work with the Board to determine what content needs to be on the site, the best ways for departments and residents to keep it up to date, the style and format of the site and will participate in the re-creating the site. Anyone interested in participating can send in a Talent Bank form ((Acrobat version) or Word document version or contact the Selectmen's Office at 781-294-1316.
From time to time, many students and other individuals are required to perform community service. The following is a list of departments, contact information, and specific work that needs to be done. If you are in need of community service hours, please contact these departments directly.
The Halifax Board of Selectmen is seeking two residents to serve on the Taunton River Stewardship Council. The Council is a community-based management system with representation from the ten cities and towns along the river. It is eligible for federal technical and financial assistance for projects that preserve and enhance the Taunton River. The Council works with the National Park Service to implement the Wild and Scenic designation given to the Taunton River earlier this year. More information about the Council and the work that was done in order to obtain the designation is available at the Town Administrator.
The Halifax Board of Selectmen is seeking a resident to serve as the Town's representative on the Logan Airport Community Advisory Committee. The Committee is composed of the communities which are, or may be affected by Airport-related aircraft noise. The primary roles of the CAC's involvement during this study are to: (1) provide the FAA and Massport with input on aircraft noise issues related to the Airport, particularly as it relates to the identification of potential noise abatement measures, (2) provide input on suggested criteria to be used in evaluating and comparing those measures, and (3) recommend to Massport those measures that might be recommended to the FAA for implementation. Because Logan Airport is considering changing the routes used by planes and jets landing at Logan and some of the new routes may fly over Halifax, the Board feels that the Town should have someone at the meetings of the Advisory Committee. Those residents with particular expertise concerning airports and/or noise issues are particularly welcome to apply. Residents who are interested in serving on the Advisory Committee should contact the Selectmen's Office at 781-294-1316.
In addition, the Town is always looking for people interested in serving on various boards and committees. At present, the following vacancies exist:
